Obviously, the best time to go up the viewpoints of Koh Tao is with a clear sky! When clouds are there, the view is not as beautiful as it is on a clear day, makes sense right.
MANGO BAY VIEWPOINT – NORTH OF KOH TAO
On the way to Mango Bay Viewpoint, you gonna find a few areas were you can enjoy the view.

The first one is not the highest of the island but it offers already a nice view of the island.
You need to pay a small fee to access this viewpoint.
➾ 20 THB (0,50€, for 2 people, parking included)
The second viewpoint you gonna pass on the way to Mango Bay, called “High Rock View Point Sunset Point”. Unfortunately, it was closed. Haha, sorry!
So we kept driving to go to “Mango Bay View”. On the way, you gonna see a little bar called Jimbar… We noticed a chained monkey over there 😥
So I would suggest avoiding spending money there…
A few moments later, you gonna have to choose between the right and the left path.
So (first) at the end of the left path – one guy came to us and asked for 100 THB (2,60€) each to enter his bar and to access to this viewpoint. I’m sorry but 200 THB (5,30€)?
This is our budget for 2,5 meals here in Thailand, haha! – I wish the price would be more reasonable like to have at least a drink inside this “entrance-fee”…
So we simply refused to pay the fee and jumped on our scooter to explore the right side… easy peasy!

So at the end of the right path at the “View Bar” was no entrance fee but you need to buy a drink – OKAY at least for 200 THB (5,30€) you get something more than sitting on a chair! This is what I meant before. Even though it was an expensive coke, we did enjoy the view!
(Prices: 100 THB (2,60€) for a coke and 120 THB (3,20€) for a small beer.)
LOVE KOH TAO VIEWPOINT – CENTRAL
Love @ Koh Tao viewpoint is actually a bar/restaurant. The view over the ocean is beautiful. On a nice day, you can see Koh Pha-Ngan.

It’s a really nice spot to enjoy a drink. There are a lot of different places to sit and relax. We especially recommend you to take a fresh pineapple shake 🍍 so tasty! (70THB ∼ 1,8€)
➾ If you don’t want to eat or drink something at this place you just need to pay 20 THB (0,50€) per person to access the viewpoint.
JOHN-SUWAN VIEWPOINT – SOUTH OF KOH TAO
John-Suwan viewpoint is A MUST-SEE! DO NOT MISS IT!
The view over Koh Tao is just AMAZING!

You can easily reach the top of the John-Suwan viewpoint from Freedom Beach. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes to reach the summit by walk. You can’t drive with your scooter up there.
FLIP-FLOPS or some sort of slippers are totally FINE 😉
➾ Entrance: 50 THB (1,30€) per person.
NANG YUAN ISLAND
Nang Yuan Island is a tiny located right next to Koh Tao. We took a boat from Sairee Beach and paid 250 THB (≃6,70€) per person (the round trip). It takes about 10 minutes to reach Nang Yuan from Sairee.
The first impression: Nang Yuan is stunning, a sandbar connects the two small islands, the water is crystal clear blue, just WOW 😲
You reach the viewpoint by walk, it takes about 10 minutes. You easily can walk with flip flops.
The view from the top is GORGEOUS BUT with the mass of tourists, the dead coral, and the amount of rubbish everywhere, it’s losing A LOT of its charm 💔
That’s too bad, this island has so much potential.
We have been to Nang Yuan in February, probably not the best time of the year to visit this island.
➾ Entrance: 100 THB (2,70€) per person.
What’s your favorite viewpoint of Koh Tao?
